I’m Erik Taberman, a visual artist from Turku, Finland.
I have an interest in multiple different mediums and techniques. My art studies (Lapland UAS, Bachelor of Culture and Arts in Fine Art) had a special emphasis on digital art, with which I’ve continued to experiment. I enjoy creating mixed media pieces, including both digital and traditional methods. As of now, I’m studying at Turku UAS, Culture and Art Master Program.
My work tackles philosophical, spiritual and visionary themes and concepts. Through my artwork, I’m developing a system of symbols and recurring visual elements, which when placed in different contexts and arrangements, evoke foundations for contemplation and personal, subjective experiences and interpretations. A lot of my work has to do with the idea of relations and mechanics between different types of forces and influences. A foundational aspect to my worldview, and therefore to my art, is the belief that human perception and comprehension is limited, whereas reality itself is not. Some of my artwork depicts more planned out concepts, whereas the process behind others has been more free-form and intuitive, though spontaneity is always an important and constant aspect in my workflow.
